“Total relaxation with adventure if wanted – you choose!

We ventured to Thonga Beach Lodge on the recommendation of our travel company – and they got it spot on. A great place to relax after a safari or a perfect destination if you want some downtime.

It took an hour to an hour and a half from the transfer spot to travel across the sand dunes to the beach resort and you will definitely need a four by four! The lodge is hidden in the dune forest and barely visible from the beach, which runs all the way from St Lucia to Mozambique and is spectacular.

The waves crash onto the beautiful golden sand and you can walk for hours and barely see anyone else – just crabs for company.

The rooms are spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and perfect for a beach break. They provide beach towels and a basket to carry all your needs to the beach.

The food was fresh and extremely tasty and without giving anything away the locations change depending on the time of day and weather conditions. Imaginative food, beautifully presented.

The lodge run numerous activities every day, so you can choose what to do according to your interests. We joined the Sundowners at the lake, guided snorkelling and Ocean Adventure. All brilliant fun and thoroughly enjoyable. We also had massages – the best ever and timed to perfection with a violent thunder and lightening storm – great use of our only wet afternoon!

The lodge employs people from the local village – they are extremely well trained and so proud of what is being achieved at Thonga Beach Lodge. A great place to stay and we would love to return one day.
